According to Reddy's post on social media platform X, OpenAI could generate massive momentum if it prices its next-generation model (temporarily dubbed GPT-5.6) at just 50% of the price of GPT-5.5. The CEO believes this low pricing would cause a large number of developers currently using Anthropic's Claude ecosystem to instantly migrate to OpenAI. "Anthropic would be in real trouble then," Reddy emphasized regarding profit margin competition.
Why It Matters
In Vietnam, API costs are always a key factor for startups building large-scale AI applications. If OpenAI indeed adopts a 'price-undercutting' strategy in exchange for market share, it would not only put pressure on Anthropic but also make it much easier for local development teams to access premium technology at a lower cost. However, this currently remains a third-party strategic proposal, with no official response yet from Sam Altman.
