OpenAI has officially released detailed information about "Project Camellia," a long-term data center development project in Effingham County, Georgia. According to an announcement from OpenAI on July 22, 2026, the company is contracting with the Georgia Power Company for 3.2 gigawatts (GW) of power to support this massive development. Along with this funding, OpenAI will make up to $71 million in credits for its Codex programming tool available to college and technical students in Georgia to bolster hands-on technical skills.
