Centralized Enterprise Management
On August 25, 2026, OpenAI announced the launch of a new Admin plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex, helping administrators centrally monitor and coordinate enterprise workspaces.
According to OpenAI, the Admin plugin provides direct management capabilities that give organizations comprehensive control over member activities across ChatGPT Work and the Codex programming platform. The tool focuses on four core operational areas:
* Analyzing workspace usage frequency * Managing member rosters and permission structures * Configuring resource quotas * Receiving and processing internal administrative requests
Deep Usage Analytics and Access Control
On the monitoring front, the plugin allows administrators to analyze workspace usage data in detail. Through these metrics, managers can track team engagement levels, resource consumption volumes, and the frequency of ChatGPT Work and Codex adoption in daily workflows.
For security and access control, the utility enables administrators to add, remove, and configure permissions for individual members. This ensures that personnel only access the specific scope of work and resources authorized for their roles across both platforms.
Resource Allocation and Administrative Requests
Additionally, the Admin plugin allows teams to flexibly adjust usage limits by department or individual, optimizing resource allocation and maintaining operational budget control. Administrators can also directly review, evaluate, and act on user-submitted requests, such as quota upgrades or access changes.
OpenAI has not yet provided details on whether the Admin plugin will incur additional service costs, nor has it shared a specific rollout timeline for global enterprise customers.
